Clans Assemble

The weekend of 17th and 18th August 2019 is one that we are going to be talking about for a while at CrossFit Fife.

It was the first ever Clash of the Clans competition – a team fitness competition inspired by the Highland games, combining regular CrossFit style movements and Highland games / Strongman movements. The competition was held in Perth and open to CrossFit boxes throughout the country, each team had to meet the following criteria:

  • Teams made up of 4 people
  • Combined team age of 120+
  • 1 athlete to be age 35+ at the time of the event

We had five awesome teams competing, this had already won us a prize (a worm) as we had the most teams entered from any single CrossFit box. Not only had the members organised all of this amongst themselves but they had also come up with some pretty impressive team names!

Fife Gone Bad

Danny Gallagher (replacement for Scott Mitchell), Kirsty Gallagher, Nicola McArthur, Bruce Hay

The Bar – Barians

Kris Gemmell, Laura, Stevenson, Alex Jenkins, Michelle Lawrenson

Nano Yer Nonsense

Robbie Bowers, Evelyn Turner, Sarah Turner, Graeme Lavery

WOD Did We Get Into

Scott McAlpine, Samantha Sim, Maeve McCouaig, Scott Henderson

Oh My Quad

Neil McLucas, Holly Cribbes, Katey Turner, Richard Chessor

Day 1 saw a host of events including farmer’s walk with loads of up to 100kg, worm lifts, thrusters, lunges, burpees, toss the caber, synchronised movements and handstands / walks.

We were delighted to go into Day 2 with all of our teams in great positions on the leader board.  The events on Day 2 were equally as challenging and with our competitors feeling the pain of the previous days endeavours it was going to be a tough day and one that required a strong mind and body!

At the end of Day 2 we were delighted that CrossFit Fife had two teams on the podium!!

1st place went to Oh My Quad

2nd went to Bar- Barians.

Fife Gone Bad finished in 4th place, missing out on 3rd by 1 point.

Regardless of results, we are incredibly, incredibly proud of how all of our teams conducted themselves . They trained hard in the lead up to the competition and they impressed many, inside and outside of CrossFit Fife, with their abilities and work ethic.

We were also reminded of the utterly amazing community that we have at CrossFit Fife. The number of cheerleaders that travelled to the event to cheer on and support their fellow crossfitters is just amazing and it makes us so proud of the box we have created.

WELL DONE to everyone and from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being the best members we could ever ask for and a HUGE well done to Claymore CrossFit for organising such a fantastic event.

Clash of the Clans 2020 is back and entries are now open so CrossFit Fife – Clans Assemble!!
